Limited Departmental Competitive Examination LDCE

RAC conducts LDCE for entry to Defence Research & Development Service (DRDS) as Scientist 'B'. Senior Technical Assistants 'B' or Senior Technical Assistants 'C' or Technical Officers 'A' or Technical Officers 'B' having five years regular service and other technical personnel in the lower grades with ten years regular service in DRDO and possessing the educational qualifications prescribed for the post of Scientist 'B' as laid down in DRDS Rules 1979 (as amended from time to time) are eligible to appear in the LDCE. However, there is no upper age limit, and, not more than five chances are allowed. DG R&D may relax the restriction in number of chances as well as the number of years of regular service prescribed for technical personnel in lower grades from ten years to five years.

After scrutiny of applications, the eligible candidates are called for written test. Based on the merit of written test, candidates may be short listed and called for interview. The emphasis during the LDCE Interview is on the knowledge of the subject and its application to Applied Research & Development of relevance to DRDO.
